Enable Developer Mode

Developer Mode unlocks Developer Options on your Android device, which is required to enable USB debugging. The steps vary slightly by manufacturer.

Stock Android / Google Pixel

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to About phone (or About tablet)
  3. Tap Build number 7 times
  4. You'll see "You are now a developer!"
  5. Go back — Developer options appears under Settings → System

Samsung Galaxy

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to About phoneSoftware information
  3. Tap Build number 7 times
  4. Enter your PIN/pattern when prompted
  5. Developer options appears under Settings (scroll down)
OEM unlocking in Developer Options is NOT required for USB debugging — it's only needed for bootloader unlocking. If it's greyed out, that's fine — just enable USB debugging.

Boox (Palma, Tab Ultra, Note Air)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to About device (or Device info)
  3. Tap Build number 7 times
  4. If that doesn't work, try tapping the Serial number 7 times instead
  5. Developer options appears under Settings
On older Boox firmware, the trigger is the serial number rather than the build number. Try both if one doesn't work. After a firmware update, Developer Options may reset — you'll need to enable it again.

Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to About phone
  3. Tap MIUI version (not Build number) 7 times
  4. Developer options appears under Settings → Additional settings
Xiaomi has an extra security setting. In Developer Options, you must also enable "USB debugging (Security settings)" and "Install via USB" — without these, ADB commands that modify settings or install apps will be blocked. Note: enabling the security toggle requires an active SIM card with data.

OnePlus

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to About device
  3. Tap Build number 7 times
  4. Developer options appears under Settings → System

Daylight DC-1

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to About tablet
  3. Tap Build number 7 times
  4. Developer options appears under Settings
