Boox Devices

SuperMirror works with Boox e-ink devices. The greyscale pipeline is optimized for e-ink — text and UI elements render crisply on the e-ink panel.

Tested devices

Device Screen Orientation Notes
Boox Palma 6.13" (824x1648) Portrait Phone-sized, great for reading
Boox Tab Ultra C 10.3" (1404x1872) Landscape or portrait Large e-ink tablet, USB-C
Boox Note Air 10.3" (1404x1872) Landscape or portrait Similar to Tab Ultra
Boox Page 7" (1264x1680) Portrait Compact e-reader

Setup

  1. Install ADB on your Mac
  2. Enable Developer Mode on your Boox (tap Build number or Serial number 7 times)
  3. Enable USB debugging
  4. Connect via USB-C and authorize
  5. Open SuperMirror and click Start Mirror

Boox-specific notes

Developer Mode trigger

On most Boox devices, tap Build number 7 times (same as stock Android). On some older firmware versions, you may need to tap the Serial number instead. Try both if one doesn't work.

Resolution auto-detection

SuperMirror queries your Boox's native screen resolution automatically and selects the closest matching preset. You can manually adjust the resolution in the menu bar if needed.

Refresh rate

E-ink displays have a slower refresh rate than LCD/OLED. SuperMirror still streams at 60 FPS — the Boox's panel will render what it can. For text-heavy work (coding, reading, writing), this is excellent. For video or fast scrolling, expect e-ink ghosting — that's a hardware limitation, not a SuperMirror issue.

Greyscale output

SuperMirror converts all output to greyscale before sending. This is by design — greyscale data compresses better, transfers faster, and matches what e-ink panels display natively. Color Boox models (Tab Ultra C) will show greyscale output.

After a Boox firmware update, Developer Options may reset. If SuperMirror stops detecting your device, re-enable Developer Mode and USB debugging.
