Use a data cable

Some USB cables charge your tablet but cannot connect it to your Mac. This is a check to try, not a confirmed cable fault.

Try these in order

  1. Try a cable that carries data

Use a cable marked for data transfer. A tablet can charge even when its data connection does not work.

  2. Connect directly to your Mac

Try another Mac port. Remove the hub or adapter for this check.

  3. Check the tablet’s settings

Turn on USB debugging, unlock the tablet, and look for the Allow prompt.

Still stuck?

Email [email protected] and describe what you see.

Include your tablet model and the message in SuperMirror. The Logs button in the Mac menu copies a report you can paste.
